Exposure to radiation including the sun, appliances in your home, and dental X-rays, can cause some damage your body. Fortunately, in dentistry today with the invention of digital x-rays the dose of radiation you are exposed to is VERY small. Dental x-rays only focus on a small area and have a higher speed so the dose is very small and fast. A lead-lined apron is placed over you and protects you from stray radiation. In addition, the government requires dental x-ray machines be checked every two years to ensure their proper function and dose. Top
