General Info: Established in 1972, the Charleston Area Medical Center is a nonprofit, 890-plus-bed health care agency that offers a range of treatment options. It maintains kidney transplant and trauma centers. The center provides a variety of heart programs to patients. It owns and operates Charleston Area Medical Center General Hospital, which offers joint replacement, rehabilitative and surgical services. It also manages CAMC Memorial Hospital, which provides various cardiology programs. The center provides degree and certification programs to more than 500 students. It manages a staff of over 5,000 people. The center serves patients in southern West Virginia. The Charleston Area Medical Center is a part of the CAMC Health System, which was founded in 1984.
