The review by Steven M is inaccurate. First, the foundation was not put in until early June (not March). The budget overages were his Allowances which he picked relative to a budget he approved at signing contract and is separate cost from the original contract. The “flaws were items that needed to be corrected along the way, mostly caught by me, and were not a point of contention. In SC the average pass rate for first inspections is 52%. There were at least 12 required inspections so the average is not bad.
Steve’s review was written in angry response to his receiving a mechanics lien for moving in the house without a Certificate of Occupancy and owing $19,000.00 with no indication he would pay. The punch list value was under $2,000.00 and efforts to finish the punch list never stopped. He is in breach of contract in two other areas according to counsel.
Finally, Steve verbally abused me regularly by yelling, cutting me off in trying to answer his questions and had alcohol on his breath during several of those occasions. I have not been treated that way by any homeowner in 30 years of working almost 400 clients. So now you know the other side of the story. It is unfortunate that anybody can say anything false or inaccurate about someone else and affect their business with no easy recourse.

DO NOT USE THIS BUILDER! We contracted Alan to build our custom house in January of 2017. Construction started in March. The contract was for 26 weeks. The house was completed 4 months late and over 25,000 over budget. The flaws in construction were numerous. His communication was terrible. He didn't listen to any of our ideas for our custom home and many times did what he thought he would want. He failed the code inspection 4 times. We are still waiting for him to complete a lengthy punch list. BEWARE, you will be disappointed! This was a TERRIBLE experience! Please feel free to contact us before using this builder.
