Sugarbush was created to fill the voice between the landscaper and the gardener. Working as the nurseryperson for several years I became familiar with all types of landscape plants and realized how little the average homeowner knows of plant care and how dependent they were on "gardeners" with limited knowledge of a few basic exotic species. The service I offer is not the weekly "mow, blow, and go", but the periodic deadheading, pruning, dividing, mulching, and intelligent replacements that are necessary to an attractive yard. I can determine where mistakes may have been made and offer solutions to cure or replace plants and improve or alter the general look if the customer is unhappy with it. I am greatly in favor of low maintenance gardens, but no garden is maintenance free. Ideally, a well-designed garden should require less and less maintenance over time, so how much attention your space needs depends on how it was designed and how well it has been maintained. Structure is extremely important. It is tempting for the home owner to just dash out to the nursery and gather up a bunch of plants, but planning is key for a beautiful, lasting garden / landscape. I specialize in California Native Plants - not cactus and succulents - but the evergreen shrubs, ornamental grasses and flowering perennials that make up what is left of our California chaparral. California native perennials are spectacular in the garden with minimal care.
