Platte River Family Practice

My first experience with them 4-21-2014 was meh. I visited them for a swollen hand after a ATV accident. The PA I saw was great, but the office staff could use some customer service coaching.

The clinic is a blue cross/shield participating provider, but instead of calling the insurance company to verify my coverage they opted to make me pay the full $190 up front instead of my $25 office visit co-pay. After Blue Cross pays them they will reimburse me. A little lazy, greedy or both I presume on the part of administration.

I would not recommend this practice, period. If you have anything beyond a sinus or ear infection, they are incapable of treating. As far as I can tell, the practice is staffed only by nurse practitioners or physician assistants with no medical doctor around. They prescribed a blood sugar lowering medication without first trying diet and exercise for a family member. Diet and exercise brought it down, and the meds would have caused severe hypoglycemia. They are expensive! They charge more than urgent care, and despite being contracted providers with several insurance companies, demand you pay them (in full) up front. They are slower than molasses giving you a refund. Everything about this practice screams cheap and greedy. The waiting room is horribly uncomfortable, the exam rooms are hot, and they always have music blaring so you can't overhear what is going on in the next room. Don't go here! It's a pathetic medical office that is more concerned with profit than providing decent healthcare to its patients.
