Dr. Matthews attended the University of Mississippi and graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2018. Her audiology journey began through her work at the University of Mississippi Hearing and Speech Center as an undergraduate assistant for the HILL Language and Literacy Program focusing on the development of language and literacy in children with moderate to severe language disorders, hearing loss, and intellectual or developmental disabilities. It was during this time that she developed a passion for facilitating access to communication and language for all individuals with a particular passion for pediatrics. Following, Dr. Matthews earned her Doctorate of Audiology degree from Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C.. and completed her residency at Duke University Medical Center in 2021 working with both adults and children.

Ear Infections
An otolaryngologist—a physician who specializes in treating diseases of the nose, ears, and throat—is uniquely qualified to determine whether symptoms are caused by an allergy, infection, structural problem, or combination of all of these. We specialize in the treatment of inhalant allergies, which may cause symptoms such as recurrent or persistent colds, cough or difficulty breathing, frequent sneezing, stuffy nose and/or runny nose, recurrent or chronic sinus infection, recurrent or persistent sore or swollen throat and post nasal drainage, recurrent ear infections and chronic upper respiratory tract problems.

Autism
Our Speech-language Pathologists help diagnose and treat children who have speech disorders (difficulty producing sounds), language disorders (difficulty understanding others or expressing themselves), and swallowing disorders. These certified professionals also help children with autism and aid preschool children with language development. They can also assist in identifying, diagnosing, and treating voice disorders (hoarseness, vocal fatigue), swallowing disorders (choking, aspiration), and cognitive deficits in adults.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Sleep disordered breathing (SDB) represents a spectrum of disorders including snoring, upper airway resistance syndrome, obstructive hypoventilation and, at the extreme end of the spectrum, obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. Certain behavioral and developmental problems in children have been shown to be related to SDB including ADHD, poor school performance, neurocognitive impairment, enuresis, and daytime somnolence.

Computed Tomography
CT Scanning – Our CT scanner uses one-tenth (1/10) of the radiation that other CT scanners do. Patients are exposed to substantially less radiation when a CT scan is performed in our office.

Otolaryngology
At Raleigh Capitol Ear, Nose & Throat, we offer a wide variety of services to treat all facets of adult ENT problems and diseases. All of our physicians are board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and are members of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
Reconstructive Surgery
Raleigh Capitol Ear, Nose & Throat is fortunate to have the services of three of the area’s most-respected surgeons, Dr. David Clark, Dr. Kevin Doyle, and Dr. Robert Daniel Peters. These physicians work closely with patients to enhance the quality of their lives through reconstructive and reparative facial surgery. In addition to cosmetic procedures, Dr. Clark and Dr. Doyle also perform repairs for post-traumatic injuries and reconstructive surgery that may be needed after removal of skin cancer.

Dr. Clark has extensive expertise in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, including a fellowship with nationally renowned plastic surgeon, Dr. Richard Farrior. Dr. Clark regularly performs facial reconstruction for patients who have undergone Mohs skin cancer surgery. He has performed thousands of flaps and skin grafts in this setting. He also has a wealth of experience in primary and revision rhinoplasty.
