Dr. Johnica Bennett is a seasoned and compassionate healthcare specialist and educator with an in-depth career of over 25 years in Women’s health, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Maternal-Fetal medicine, and Nursing Education. She started her career as a Registered Nurse in 1996 and completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN) from Florida International University in 1998. She also received a Master of Science Nursing in Degree (MSN) from the University of Miami in 2003 after extensive training in midwifery obtained board certification from the American Midwifery Certification Board. She received the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from the University of Miami in 2013 and conducted extensive research in simulation technology for maternal child health nursing education.

We diagnose and treat all major and minor gynecological/pelvic conditions and needs. Unlike many Ob/Gyn practices, we have comprehensive diagnostic services onsite, and can completely evaluate your specific condition in our office, versus a hospital or operating room. Our diagnostic testing includes colposcopy, biopsies, pelvic ultrasound, bladder urodynamic and cystometric evaluation, and laboratory testing. Our evaluation will determine whether non-surgical or surgical treatment is indicated to effectively treat your condition. Hysterectomy
We are the only Ob/Gyn practice in Georgia with an onsite, fully accredited surgery center for performing all major and minor gynecological procedures in a true outpatient setting. Our Georgia Advanced Surgery Center for Women (GASC) specializes in laparoscopic and other highly advanced, minimally invasive surgical procedures that spare women costly hospitalization and unsightly incisions for hysterectomy, incontinence procedures and other surgeries for treating gynecologic and pelvic conditions -- while also providing the fastest, least painful recovery possible.
Laparoscopy
Dr. Barfield is a Board Certified physician in the specialties of obstetrics and gynecology, and also performs advanced operative laparoscopy. Dr. Barfield completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals in 2004. He is a 2000 graduate of NOVA Southeastern University School of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed his internship at the Children’s and Women’s Hospital of the University of South Alabama. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology from the University of Georgia. Dr. Barfield also is a co-founder and staff physician of Cartersville Ob/Gyn’s onsite outpatient surgical facility, the Georgia Advanced Surgery Center for Women.
