Dental Care
Dental disease affects 85-90% of all cats and dogs and can lead to infections of the liver, kidneys and heart. Bad breath and visible tartar on your pets teeth can be indicators of more serious dental disease. Our doctors will perform an oral exam on your pet every 6-12 months to check for tartar, broken or abscessed teeth and oral tumors.
Vaccination
What is a health plan? A health plan is a schedule or list of recommended tests, treatments, and vaccinations designed to maintain optimum health. This health plan is designed for your pet’s current stage of life. Following our recommendations will allow your pet to thrive rather than merely survive. Your pet will likely spend most of his or her life in close contact with you and following the plan aids in preventing disease from passing to you and your family.
Veterinary Ophthalmology
Nutritional Counseling
Panleukopenia, also known as distemper, is highly contagious and usually fatal. Nine out of ten cats that get distemper will die. Since the disease is easily transmitted from cat to cat, chances are very high that your cat will be exposed to it during his/her lifetime. Symptoms include depression, loss of appetite, fever, vomiting and diarrhea. This vaccine is given at 6-8 weeks of age. A booster is required every 4 weeks until 16 weeks of age, then a year later. After that the vaccine is given every 3 years.
Comprehensive Examination
Our staff will get a chance to talk to you and see if you are having any trouble with your pet. We will also go over diet, preventative medicine, and exercise to ensure that your pet is as healthy as possible. Then, one of our veterinarians will do a complete physical examination on your pet. It is always good to have a baseline in case your pet ever becomes ill. We also want to monitor your pet’s weight, ensuring that your pet stays a healthy weight. It is much easier to start a diet when a pet is a pound overweight instead of fifteen! Our veterinarian will also look for any potential problems. Our goal is to catch any problems before they become major ones. The sooner that we are able to catch a problem, the easier it is to treat it and the more likely that your pet will make a full recovery!

Illness Treatment

Parasites Treatment and Control
Fecal floatation for intestinal parasites should be done on the initial visit and then once per year. Fecals are repeated after treatment of any parasite to insure infestations are resolved. This test is ran in house and we will have the results within 10-15 minutes.

Parainfluenza is an airborne virus affecting the upper respiratory system. It can seriously affect older or weakened dogs, especially those under stress.

Infection Treatment

Leptospirosis Treatment
LEPTOSPIROSIS is a bacterial infection that can lead to kidney and liver failure. Disability or even death in severe cases may be possible. Leptospirosis can reside in your pet as a low level infection for months or years, infecting other dogs while weakening yours. This is contracted from infected urine of wildlife by pets drinking from puddles or slow moving streams. Leptospirosis is a zoonatic disease, which means we can get this as well. The first vaccine is given as early as 9-10 weeks of age; and a booster is required within 2-4 weeks then yearly.
Parvovirus Infection Treatment
Parvovirus made its devastating worldwide appearance in 1978. Transmitted through contact with an infected dog’s feces (flies can be carriers), Parvo is a highly contagious epidemic and life threatening to your dog. It causes life threatening vomiting and diarrhea. This vaccine should be given at 6-8 weeks of age. A booster is required every 4 weeks until 16 weeks of age then a year later. After that the vaccine is given every 3 years.
Feline Retro Virus Treatment
Leukemia/Feline Immunodeficiency Virus Test or FELV/FIV Test is recommended for all cats that have not been tested or that have been exposed to other cats that are not current on vaccines. Leukemia and FIV are viruses that the are not curable. Cats can be tested as early as 9-10 weeks of age.

Blood Test and ECG: Presurgical and ECG screens are done at time of surgical procedures to assure safe anesthesia.
Kidney Disease Treatment

Dental Surgery
Our professional dental cleaning services require your pet to be under general anesthesia. This allows us to check each tooth for problems and extract any bad teeth, perform dental xrays, and do minor oral surgery if needed. Once everything is checked, we then clean each tooth including under the gum line. We also polish all of the teeth to insure a smooth surface to help discourage new plaque from building up. Professional cleaning is the only way to remove tartar on the teeth once it has already begin to build up.
Spaying and Neutering
Spaying or Neutering: Can be done as early as 16 weeks of age, if done in females before first heat cycle chances for mammary tumors are decreased considerably. Neutered males are less likely to roam, and it may decrease inappropriate spraying, mounting and aggressive behaviors.

X-Ray
Microchipping
Microchip Placement: Can be done at time of spay or neuter, but can be done at any time, helps to aid in recovery if your pet becomes lost. All shelters and veterinarians have scanners. We use Home Again microchips.
