Smokey Meadows Apartments

I've heard a lot of negative things about these apartments. When I was a working single mom, I lived in one of their 2-bedroom 1-bathroom apartments. I never had any issues with my stay. I never had any issues with my neighbors. I paid my rent two weeks early EVERY month. I stayed for a year and didn't renew my lease because I moved. The property manager and I went through all the paperwork for me to properly move and all was fine. They gave me my deposit back - then, told me I had to pay $250 for the carpet to be cleaned. So, essentially, I had to give the deposit back to pay for the carpet to be cleaned. Then, a month after I fully moved out, I was charged $10 for a late-rent fee. They tried to say that I was a week late on my rent three months before I moved out - which was NOT true. I had the receipts to prove it! I showed the property manager the receipts and told her they had made a mistake. She said, "I can't do anything about that. You'll have to contact GEM management." GEM management wouldn't acknowledge their mistake, either! I'll give these apartments a two star as opposed to a one star) because my stay was decent. But their management is VERY poor.

Stay away. I lived there since its opening (about 2 years) and was evicted for non payment of rent, even after I had set up a payment date with them on day one and had never missed a single month. Was given 10 days to move out all belongings, but was informed 2 days late (only 8 days to move).



The apartment above us flooded and a dozen huge dehumidifiers were brought in and run for a week straight so we could move back in. Guess who had to pay the electric bill? Ya, this guy. There was still mold, the office was informed, nothing was done.



I had a vehicle stolen from the premises, there is no security.

Senior property manager will look down on you for being low income, treat you with disdain. While doing inspections of apartments, made major violations by going through personal items, such as drawers and the clothing in them. Did not bother to even greet you when you open the door. We will not receive copy of inspection for at least 5 days after inspection. Property manager doesn't want to give receipts for rent paid in timely manner. They seem to like to try and intimidate the residents and threaten them with loss of the roof over their heads if you disagree with them in any manner, shape or form. Rent at your own risk. Up until about a month ago, I'd have given this place 5 stars. The apartments are nice, but living in fear month to month about having a roof over your head is no type of life, especially if you already have health problems that need your attention.
