Otterkill Animal Hospital

let me start by saying I'm picky and hard to please when it comes to my pets' care. I can always find something to complain about. But not so with Otterkill. Been taking my dogs here for 11 years and always got excellent care whether we were there for checkups, surgery or emergencies. The staff is wonderful and the office is highly efficient. I won't take my doggie anywhere else if I can help it. An outstanding animal hospital. Don't hesitate to bring your pets here.

I've never seen a veterinary office with such poor customer service!! I bring my cat to Otterkill and the techs make you feel horrible. They hand you an inch thick packet on "premium foods" for your pet. I've never heard of any of these brands and certainly cannot afford to go to the specialty stores that sell them exclusively. They told me the popular foods bought in grocery/pet stores that I feed my cat is like "McDonald's for pets" even though I use food off of their "adequate foods" list. Then they poke and prod your animal, tell you the worst case scenario, convince you to extend the exam, clean their ears, check for fleas, etc and then hit you with the bill. I was once offered SAMPLES of flea and heartworm medication for my dog and then charged $200 for it!! My cat's last checkup wound up costing me $300!!!! When I asked if I could pay the balance in installments, I was told "payment is due at the time of services rendered!" I will most definitely be finding a new and friendlier vet!

My husband was treated in a not-so-nice way by the tech at Otterkill - we have many, many pets, and having a vet tech younger than him chastise him over Frontline (which, we use, by the way) was rude - especially since he had just gotten out of the ICU unit a few days before and really was in no shape to be criticized. I will never go there again. I also had them remove us from their mailings

Great care for every type of pet. They treat all animals with respect. I found out that the veterinary technicians are either licensed or are in school working towards becoming an LVT. I feel comfortable leaving my pet in their care. I will be telling others.
