The Burlington Police Department provides law enforcement services to the city of Burlington, Mass. It responds to emergency calls, accidents and other police-related matters. The department provides bike patrol, case investigation, gun registration, crime prevention and emergency readiness services. The Burlington Police Department also offers community services that include bicycle licensing, fingerprinting, child safety seat inspection, premise survey and police clearance letter. It has a traffic division that monitors traffic enforcement and accident investigations services. The department supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is an international education program that seeks to prevent the use of illegal drugs, membership in gangs and violent behavior. The Burlington Police Department maintains a citizens academy that organizes a variety of community, youth and neighborhood watch programs.
