Juan S. Arana, D.O., is a board-certified pediatrician practicing at Southeast Georgia Physician Associates-Pediatrics in Brunswick, Georgia. In 2019, he earned his medical degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine, and he completed his residency at Children's Hospital of Michigan in 2022. Dr. Arana treats patients from newborn to 21 years of age. His passion for serving the community's physical, emotional and spiritual needs led him to pursue a profession in health care. While teaching at a juvenile detention center, Dr. Arana witnessed the need for a reliable adult in every child's life and realized that, as a pediatrician, he could have a significant impact on youths through advocacy and physical care. Originally from Bogota, Colombia, Dr. Arana and his family relocated to the United States when he was 13 years old. He recalls his mother's vigilant search when they first moved to America for a provider who could communicate with her in her native language. Fluent in both English and Spanish, Dr. Arana is proud to serve the Spanish-speaking population in Brunswick, allowing them to ask questions and express their concerns in the language most comfortable for them. Dr. Arana feels honored that parents allow him to care for what is most precious: their children. His patient care approach is to use his professional expertise as a doctor and personal experience as a father to help guide the family to make medical decisions together. While Dr. Arana delights in seeing his patients grow and thrive through the years, he also enjoys educating parents on a variety of helpful topics, such as lactation, sleep training, and introducing solids and exercise. In his free time, Dr. Arana plays soccer and hockey. Additionally, he aspires to take cooking classes and learn a third language, a helpful skill to have during his travels abroad.
