Drilling Service Company is a specialty contractor involved in the construction of drilled shaft foundations, pile driving, earth retention systems, rock anchors and tiebacks, pin piles, dewatering systems, limited-access drilling, and pressure grouting.
Our work takes us deep underground to construct the support structures that are invisible to the street population, but are nonetheless essential for the integrity of the places where people live, work and entertain.
With drilling experience in every conceivable subsurface condition, the personnel at Drilling Service Company are longtime experts in the field. From the simplest drill-only job to the most difficult turnkey project, the company has the equipment and personnel required for any drilling project. Repeat customers regularly request that certain employees be assigned to future projects, confirming the caliber of our employee base.
Drilling Service Company was founded in 1955 by Clifford W. Murphy - appropriate ly from the basement of his home. In 1979, Clifford's brother and longtime employee Marshall R. Murphy bought the company. Marshall's three sons, Mark, Bruce, and Jeffrey Murphy now own the business and have worked for the company since they were teenagers.
Our company's headquarters are located on 20 acres in Bridgeton, Missouri. Most of the company's work is located within a 300-mile radius of St. Louis, though recent projects have taken its crews to Indiana, Iowa, Mississippi and Kansas.
With our turnkey shaft construction services, the owner and general contractor are freed from the burden and risk of reinforcing and pouring the foundation shafts. Once the shaft is drilled and inspected, we install the reinforcing steel and place the concrete. When we’re done, you’ve got a clean site and a solid, ready-to-build foundation.
In a typical installation a number of well points are placed along a trench or around an excavation site. They connect to a common header for discharge away from your site.
Landscape Lighting
We retrofitted the lighting in our entire facility to the most efficient lighting possible. Much of this is LED lighting and includes our outdoor lighting.
Retaining Walls
After drilling shafts and setting steel H-beams in concrete, we connect those beams with timber or concrete lagging to build a retaining wall.
