        Founded in 1992, the McGivney Community Center is a nonprofit organization that provides a variety of programs for children. It offers after-school, recreational and summer camp programs. The organization s school year program includes homework assistance, computer training, music classes, tutoring and mentoring services. The McGivney Community Center also prepares lesson plans for the development of reading and writing skills of students. It provides scholarships to elementary and middle school students. The organization also offers cooperative and communication skills development programs. Its summer camp includes breakfast and lunch options, arts and media classes and group discussions, as well as recreational activities. The organization also conducts trips to local universities, zoos, museums and amusement parks. The McGivney Community Center is located in Bridgeport, Conn.
