Starlight Veterinary Clinic

Dr Elmer and Starlight have been our family vet for a few years and I would not think of going anywhere else. The staff are careing, compassionate, kind and VERY responsible.. Dr. Jean Elmer is one of the best bets we have ever had. She will abandone her family dinners and sleep if we need her to. We saved a ferrel cat that had been attacked by a racoon at 8 PM on a 20 below night and Dr Elmer met us at her clinic.....if it were not for her our new fur baby would be dead. She has taken care of our 3 dogs and 2 other cats like they are her own.

Bottom line, I called Dr Elmer at 8 pm in -20 temps and said I had a cat that was attacked and all she said was "meet me at my clinic in 20 minutes." I have been to a few vets and none would do this.

My dog somehow managed to chew through an extension cord in my house and electrocuted himself. I was honestly terrified. A shower of sparks erupted as I quickly tore the live wire from the animal's mouth. The dog had a violent seizure and was foaming at the mouth. In a fit of panic quickly googled vets in the surrounding area. I came across Dr. Jean Elmer at the Starlight Veterinary Clinic and called her emergency number. It was a Sunday night and right in the middle of a classic Wisconsin blizzard. She said she would leave right now and that I could meet her at her clinic.



Dr. Jean Elmer not only dropped everything (it was during a Packer game ) to meet me at her clinic during a non-work day, but arranged to have her entire parking lot and street plowed so I could bring the dog to the clinic. How many people do you know that would be willing to do that for a new patient that she had never even met?



The experience in her clinic was just as impressive. She monitored my pup for over an hour, checked all his vitals, and prescribed the appropriate meds and homecare instructions. Her personality and obvious passion for her job radiates in everything she does. She even explained that if she was truly worried about complications of my dog she would be willing to keep the dog overnight.



I know price isn't everything, but it is an important issue when it comes to deciding what type of treatment is appropriate for your animal. We all love our animals, but the price of animal health care can restrict treatment options. I can happily report that for her services, the price I had in my mind came in under what I was expecting and know for a fact would cost much more in other madison-area vet clinics.



Dr. Jean Elmer is a dedicated passionate professional, who operates a beautiful new clinic in the blue mounds area, and my experience with her was so pleasant I'll be bringing the rest of my animals for regular pet care in the future.
