Mayfair Campground

New owners take over this thursday april the 12th 2018. They seem very nice and much more laid back it seems than the other owner. Looking forward to my seaon there this year.

When we arrived at this campground we were skeptical but decided to give it a try. We had 5 campers in our party and about 20 people. Initially we thought the owners were a little peculiar but decided because they had thick accents, it must be a cultural thing. Let me tell you...if you are below 70 years of age, do not visit this campground. It appears they only want to deal with the older, seasonal people and the owner harassed our party at every opportunity. He went on and on about rules and essentially told us that at 11pm, we had to go to bed and be quiet like a 5 year old child that had just been scolded.



He recieved a noise complaint the first night we we camping from a seasonal camper. We were not being rowdy but with 20 people, talking and laughing ---ok, we might be louder than a whisper. We apologized and the next day we talked to a Canadian camper at the very next site who stated that not only were we not loud, they enjoyed listening to us. The next night we moved the campfire to the very end of our block of sites and talked to the camper (seasonal) there. We invited them to join us and after a long day at Sylvan beach, the family was very mellow with some retiring before 1030pm.

At 11pm the owner parked a few sites away with his high beams on our campfire for about 10 minutes. A family member walked toward his vehicle to see what the problem was and he turned off the lights. A few minutes later, he came to the site and was completely acting like a lunatic stating that the camper next to us was bothered by the noise. We told him this was untrue as we had spoken with those people and wanted to know if there was a complaint from someone else. He stated there was not. At this time he started to call our visitors names and was extremely rude to us stating they had to leave after we had been drinking for several hours. He left but came back 20 minutes later and continued his harassment.



I have been camping for 30 years on both coasts of this country. Never, never, ever have I seen the owner of a business treat his customers in such a manner. These individuals should get out of a business where they have any contact with the general public. The store is dirty and looks like a flea market instead of a camp store. I defy anyone to find a thing on the shelves...a tonka truck next to candy bars, badmitton set, and a teddy bear that looked as though it was plucked off a freeway.

I will not revisit and I urge everyone to find and visit one of the alternative campgrounds in the area -----I definitely wish I had.
