Ophthalmology
The surgeons at Primary Eye Care Center are among the most experienced and well trained in the entire country. Together they have performed thousands of successful surgical procedures. Macular Degeneration
Macular degeneration is a retinal disease that occurs when the macula, an area at the retina at the back of the eye, begins to gradually deteriorate, usually because of age. A partial or total loss of central vision can occur. There are treatments available for some types of macular degeneration.
Laser Eye Surgery
Scleral contact lenses are designed for patients who have difficulty wearing standard contact lenses due to an irregular cornea, such as Keratoconus. The lens is also used for other problems or conditions such as corneal transplant, severe dry eye, or if they are post LASIK and other refractive errors.
Cataracts
Over fifty percent of people over the age of 60 (and quite a few younger than that) suffer from cataracts. Almost everyone develops cataracts as they grow older. Cataract formations occur at different rates and can affect one or both eyes.
Cataract Surgery
In your parents’ or grandparents’ day, cataract surgery was considered risky, required a lengthy hospital stay and was usually postponed for as long as possible. Today, cataract surgery is performed on an outpatient basis and takes only a few minutes. It is now one of the most common and successful medical procedures performed. In fact, following cataract surgery, many patients experience vision that is actually better than what they had before they developed cataracts.

Eyelid Surgery
I am very pleased with my eyelid surgery performed by Dr. Pasternack in the Eye Surgery Center at Primary Eye Care. I have received many comments such as; “How do you manage to stay looking so young”? The procedure was without discomfort and didn’t take very long.
Blepharoplasty
When I started to experience problems with my vision, I was concerned about what could be done. The staff at Primary Eye Care were wonderful in explaining Blepharoplasty (eye lid) procedure and alleviating my fears. The surgery went just as planned and now my vision has been restored just as promised. I couldn’t be more satisfied.

Ulcer
The front portion of the eye is covered with a thin, transparent membrane called the cornea, which protects the interior of the eye. If there is a break or defect in the surface layer of the cornea, called the epithelium, and damage to the underlying stroma, a corneal ulcer results. The ulcer is usually caused by microrganisms, which gain access to the stroma through the break in the epithelium.
