The Carriere Distalizer is an orthodontic device utilized to correct a bite by rotating and up righting the maxillary first molars, while moving the posterior segment, from canine or premolar to molars, into a perfect bite. With an effect similar to headgear, but without the use of a bulky appliance, the Carriere Distalizer helps correct the bite prior to the addition of full braces or full Invisalign. It is used in combination with a lower fixed lingual arch space maintainer and elastics, lower braces, or lower Invisalign. Over time, if the rubber bands are worn as instructed we will instruct each patient with how and when to wear the rubber bands with their carriere distalizer. The teeth will slowly begin to shift, effectively correcting the bite. It is a relatively quick solution and is barely noticeable.

Keep your retainer clean, too, by brushing it gently with a toothbrush and toothpaste. You may also soak it in denture cleaner as instructed by your orthodontist. Do not put your retainer in boiling water or in the dishwasher.
