USA Martial Arts

In 2007, my then 5-year-old daughter surprised me by asking to take Karate lessons, and an internet search pointed me to several martial arts programs in Birmingham. I chose USA Martial Arts because: (1) they seemed to have the most child-friendly program, (2) the instruction includes the teaching of martial arts concepts that are important for personal development (such as: focus of attention, courtesy, respect for yourself and others, responsibility, etc.), and (3) the instructors make the classes so much FUN and provide so much praise and positive reinforcement that my daughter hardly notices that she is gaining self confidence and learning important life lessons. The instructors are, of course, experts at Martial Arts but, more importantly, they are experts at TEACHING Martial Arts; they quickly identify and kindly explain the subtle difference in a movement to help the student get it right. USA Martial Arts has excellent instructors and an excellent curriculum; I highly recommend it.

Both of my boys, ages 10 and 7, began taking karate at USA Martial Arts when they were in kindergarten. At USA Martial Arts, karate is not a sport, it's a way of life. Not only are my children recieving the very best in martial arts training, they are also continuously being coached on positive personal development skills. My boys have learned the meaning of integrity, the need for self-control, and the importance of respecting others. Their training has also made a tremendous difference in their confidence and self-esteem.

If you ask my boys what they like best about their classes, they say KARATE IF FUN.

What I like best are the caring, devoted, and skilled instructors who always make time for each individual student.
