Overall
horribly disappointed

Everyone knows going to the movies is no longer a cheap outing but when you pay horrendous amounts for tickets and concessions you expect a great experience. Ticket prices are way high for the area. It costs almost $20 alone for two tickets. Then another $20 for concessions which are way overpriced for the area. And once you pay the ridiculous prices you get flat pop and old disgusting popcorn which do not include free refills unless you spring for the largest sizes. Then you get the pleasure of dirty bathrooms and theaters that do not have functioning climate control and seats that are so cramped and crinkly and noisy that you dont dare move for fear of disturbing others. The seats also have no cupholders. For a college town this is a pathetic excuse for a theater. Save yourself some money and go to Fremont or Muskegon.

Where's the Movies?

It's always been my belief that movie theaters make their money by showing ( for the most part) popular, first run movies. Big Rapids Cinema apparently has other ideas, as a college town Big Rapids deserves a movie theater that caters not only to the grammar school and family friendly crowd but also to the adult population. As much as I love the Harry Potter movies I resented having to wait until it came out on video to see Good Night and Good Luck, or Heaven Forbid, Brokeback Mountain. With a large student population and a whole lot of adults in town we deserve to have the choice of movies that are something other than kid's shows or mindless car chases. Not to change the theater into an art house, but a little more of a mix would be gratifying.
