To the owner: Because your ...

To the owner:

Because your establishment is getting negative reviews, it must be for a reason, and can't be dismissed as fictitious. You need to look at these so called 'Lies' and issue some changes sooner rather than later.

First critique: The Merchandise.

I am a very selective buyer, I almost never find what I'm looking for, so when I first walked into your store, I was amazed. It seemed to have all that I was looking for, vintage action figures, comics and graphic novels! With that being said, I never walk out with anything, because I can never find anything, as the place is so disorganized and cluttered. How do you expect to sell anything if it can't be found? The place may have what I've been looking for for years, but It'd take hours to find, as there's boxes upon boxes stacked everywhere, as opposed to being displayed.

Second Critique: Cleanliness
The place is not a clean environment as you claim. The carpets feel and look as if they haven't been vacuumed in years, the place has a very heavy musty smell to it, and I feel he need to wash my hands upon leaving, everything is so dusty. This issue conflicts with your prices, I'm not going to pay for a product in bad shape and covered in dust/ mold.

Third Critique: Customer Service and prices

Something I have unfortunately witnessed first-hand is your customer service (or lack thereof). All employees seem disinterested in the customer, are often mad, and scoff at any questions I've asked. Without fail, every time I walk into the place, all employees are too busy playing cards in the back of the store to help any passerby.

The prices bother me too. Many of your graphic novels and trade paperbacks are sold at cover price, even in used condition.

Overall, it seems like a great place at a glance, but due to sub-par costumer service, poor organization and sanitation, I feel I shouldn't give you any of my business. Which is unfortunate, as you have tens of thousands of dollars worth of toys and comics memorabilia, but it's all neglected and stacked to the ceiling or behind the counter, preventing anyone from actually buying.

Rating: 1 star.

BAN Time Travelers:

You can assert your bad experiences at Time Travelers by NOT SHOPPING at Time Travelers.

Thanksgiving through New Years: AVOID THIS PLACE when shopping for gifts...
Maybe you got a bonus at work, or you robbed somebody, or you just plain found some cash, hey! then shop online, or save the money for a convention, or EXPLORE OTHER COMIC BOOK SHOPS. You will still LIVE if you AVOID THIS PLACE.
!!!!

The owner Mike is a winy douche that acts proud to be mean, and dismissive. You are NOT a customer at TimeTravelers, you are EXPECTED to be berated by the owner if you try to haggle prices of back issues.

THIS IS THE WORST PLACE TO GET COMICS IN DETROIT.

The rest of the staff are typical Millennials, as they are supposed to avoid eye contact, be SMUG, and act like you are invading their 'sacred' 'safe space' (yup, this type of smug bigot 'entitled' attitude is no longer just in Ann Arbor -unfortunately).

You have NO value as a customer at Time Travelers -this place is typical 'former-USA' 'culture'.

I was here about a month ago with my two tired grumpy kids and first let me say that even with my kids driving me nuts screaming and trying to run through the store the owner seemed really cool and never once was rude about the little Vikings trying to take over his store. As far as it being cluttered it is a little bit but I think that's just because they have a lot of stuff. For me being a Comic book guy I was in comic heaven they had pretty fair prices and carried a lot of what I was looking for. I will be back dropping more hard earned cash here no doubt about it hopefully without my little Vikings with me :)

Overall

I have frequented Time Traveler's for the last 15 years. I know the owner fairly well, as I have been coming in at least every few months and every time I go in, well I should say at least 90% of the time I come in, I end up leaving with something and happy that I bought it. Staff comes and goes, but Mike is a constant and he is the core of this business. I believe that he is as honest as you can find as far as when it comes to buying/selling. It's a business, he has to make profit. Of course you are not going to get more than 1/2 of what something is "worth" when you sell it to them. First of all, they are either giving you $$$ money, or, trade value for their other goods. That means they are taking what you have and putting it in their store hoping to make a turn around on it. It may in fact sit there for years and lose value. You expect them to pay 75% or more of the value of something, only to not have it sell? If you don't like what they pay, go and try selling it elsewhere and see what you get offered. I won't name names of other places but I can assure you there are MUCH worse. Every time I go into this store, I find Mike busy as a bee running through inventory, stocking things and yet he still finds time to chat with me and tell me stories despite how busy he is. He works his tail off and as he stated, he's been around for 25 years. You don't last 25 years if you have a bad reputation. Yes the place is cluttered, but to me that is part of the charm. For any 'collector' of just about anything, there's something for you in there and the prices are not bad AT ALL. I've bought, sold and traded to them for 15 years and will continue to do so until the place closes up for good. So I defend what Mike says and back him 100%, he's a good guy. Quirky? Yes. But he's a great guy. He's like the jolly green giant, except not so green, just jolly and fun. I always try to stay out of the way in there and let them do business with other customers first because they are SO busy, and I consider myself kind of a friend so whatever things I am considering I put to the side until someone is free just because of how much I love the place. I loiter in there and enjoy the stories Mike has told me over the years, and he has some whoppers, all of which I believe to be true and they are very interesting. So yeah, I can't understand the hate being said here.

Sincerely, Loyal T.T customer for years,

~Jonathan

If there weren't so few comic book stores left in this city, this store would not exist. Obnoxious owner, and high prices make me want to shower when I leave the place. I stop in occasionally when in the area just to hope it is under new management. I guess the owner is still holding on to it. Too bad. It's conveniently located.

This business is horrible! If you want to get ripped off and pay an outrageous amount of money come here. The owner is disrespectful, unprofessional, dishonest, a con artist and rude. I remeber once the owner, Mike, made a child cry because he wouldn't sell his cards to him. One of the worst experiences of my life seeing a child cry because of a greedy, selfish business owner. If you sell someting to them expect less than a 1/4 of what its worth and if you buy someting expect to pay 2 to 3 times the value of the item. This place is a disgrace to the comic book and toy world and they should close the doors. You can find much better products and way better service at honest prices at good stores in the area such as Warp9 and Comics and More. Dont waste your time and money with this sorry excuse for a comic book store! They should be ashamed everyday they open the doors!

I do not understand the reviews that are below this one. I am the owner of Time Travelers. We have been around for 25 years. We service the community and fans and pride ourselves on good prices, customer service, friendly an clean envirnment above the norm. The comments made be these people are outright lies and totally without merrit. If businesses were as bad as they state they could not exist these days. It makes me sad that there are not safeguards or atleast people that monitor these sites so that the ravings of people like these cannot be giving such weight and visability. Check out my store and like all the others - I think you will scratch your head at what these people were talking about. We always appreciated your taking the time to visit our store. Its clean and very friendly. We have alot of stuff that is popular and a place you would feel comfortable in taking kid, grandkids, family and friends. I wish I did not have to comment but I could not just ignore it Best, Mike

Something 4 Everybody

I have been collecting comic books since I was 5 years old. I am now 32 years old. Never the less this place has every book and a awesome stock of older books. Plus they have all type of toys from when I was a kid to some newer ones. For the movie lover they have that covered also. Its alot to take in when you walk in the door and you can spend hours there without a 2nd thought. Its a must see 4 everyone. The people that work there are very nice and helpful.
