They have an incredible selection of music and movies, at very reasonable prices. I could spend days looking through the store.

Great selection

This place is just great. They have got a great selection of new and used music, movies, and more. You can spend hours here just looking through all of the rare items they have. They play music loud and it can be difficult to find someone to help you, but the selection they have overcomes any negatives.

Overall
The Place To Find It All

I have about 20,000 CDs. No, I'm not kidding. I have several hundred vinyl albums and 12"ers. This sounds like a lot. But, add to that the fact that in 1997 I sold my entire collection. Which, at that time was a mammoth beast. In ten years I've not only recollected all I got rid of but turned my home into a CD annex in the process. And this is Amoeba Music's fault. I lam walking distance from this behemoth of a record shop. And it is a behemoth. It managed to eat every other record shop in town. Put Aaron's, Vinyl F_tish and many others out of business. Really quite sad that this happened, but we are all to blame. We all started going to Amoeba. Now, I love the place but I have to say enough already with your prices higher than eBay. Enough with your silly OUT OF PRINT stickers. Quiet already, we know. That is why we are there. One CD I recently bought required the removal of about six stickers (price tag, import, oop and promo only). That last one, 'promo only' ain't used much no more as they've taken to adhering gray 'previously played' stickers over promo information to save themselves getting in trouble by the labels. I once overheard an owner at Rockaway comment, 'Amoeba should just back their trucks up to the loading docks at Warner Bros.' I loved that. They were selling so many illegal items I think they were fined and threatened with legal action. Well sadly we're the losers. As I used to get great items at Amoeba. But now, not so much. I come armed to spend hundreds but often leave without anything. I think they need to chill on the stickers, find a way to sell the rare stuff again, and my word COME DOWN IN YOUR PRICES already. People ain't buying the stuff.
