Biography: Dr. Fugate graduated from the University of Kansas with a B.A. in 1980. He then completed medical school at the University of Kansas in 1984. Dr. Fugate completed his family practice residency at St. Joseph Medical Center. He joined the MCHHS staff in 1987.
Emergency Care
2. Persons that are having symptoms that feel they need to be seen will be instructed to come to the Emergency Room for a Medical Screening Exam and treatment as deemed necessary by the physician.
Babies are cared for in a well-equipped nursery that is staffed 24 hours a day with licensed practical nurses that have been trained to care for the newborn immediately after delivery and during the hospitalization. All obstetrics and nursery personnel are trained in the Neonatal Resuscitation Program. Approximately 100 babies a year are born at Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems.

We provide a caring, attentive staff, the latest in delivery room care and the highest priority placed on the health of your baby.
Dr. Concannon is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. He is Board Certified in internal medicine and a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Endoscopy
The Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems Outpatient Surgical Clinic provides consultations and surgical services to our patients. Our professional staff treats colon, breast, skin and other cancers, in addition to providing medical procedures for thyroid disease, gallbladder, hernias, endoscopy and a multitude of other surgeries. We are dedicated to excellence in every aspect of our clinic.
We offer a spacious exercise area with rehab equipment to meet your individual needs. Each patient is given an individual exercise plan to help increase strength and help them resume a more active life. The 6 to 12 week program consist of exercise education, disease education, stress management, and diet management in a safe learning environment.
Mental Health
Senior Life Enrichment is an intensive outpatient program that provides therapeutic support services to senior citizens struggling with behaviors or symptoms affecting everyday life. Our patients are offered services by an experienced and caring team of mental health professionals, including a psychiatrist, licensed social worker, a registered nurse and certified nurse's aide. Our clinic offers individual, group and family therapy, incorporating diagnostic evaluation and medication management for patients seeking acute mental health services. We will also assist our patients with mental health education, resource development and continuum of care discharge planning.
Dr. Kueker with NCK Radiology and Kansas Imaging Consultants view all images and provide reports to the referring physician so results can be communicated to you in a timely manner.
Dr. Cole McEwen, Surgeon, attended the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, Kansas, graduating in 2013. He completed his General Surgery residency at the University of Arizona in Phoenix, Arizona.
Orthopedics
Physical Therapy, as a profession, specializes in the rehabilitation of injuries and diseases involving the musculoskeletal and nervous systems. A wide variety of diagnoses are treated at our facility including orthopedic injuries, postoperative orthopedics, chronic and acute pain, and neurological problems including strokes, spinal cord and nerve injuries.
Wound Care
Dr. McEwen is originally from Topeka, Kansas and has moved back to Kansas after working in a Private Practice in Phoenix, Arizona. As a general surgeon, his specialties are advanced laparoscopy, hernia repairs, small bowel and colon surgery, gallbladder surgery, skin cancer and wound care, as well as many other procedures. Dr. McEwen is accepting new patients from Beloit and the surrounding areas.
At MCHHS, our staff is prepared to care for our patients at every phase of their visit. The first phase is patient registration for outpatient procedures or an acute admission. Please check in with Patient Registration/Admission personnel before the appointment. This includes any Lab, X-Ray, Surgical, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Therapy.
Occupational Therapy
A wide variety of patients are helped, including those with orthopedic, neurological, general medical/surgical, and psychiatric conditions. This may include patients with brain injury, stroke, MS, upper extremity traumas and dysfunction. Occupational Therapy is also responsible for the fabrication of hand splints for the protection of an injury and to enhance hand function.
