As the city s chief executive officer, the city manager reports to the Bellevue City Council and carries out policies established by the council members. The city manager oversees a variety of city operations, and supports various city initiatives, including encouraging economic development and promoting the Sister Cities Program. The communications department, a part of the city manager's office, keeps residents informed about city business through a variety of print and online tools. City of Bellevue offers citizens several opportunities to contribute to its direction. Residents are invited to take part in major initiatives and suggest improvements for their neighborhoods. Citizens also address the city council at meetings, and volunteers serve on a variety of boards and commissions.
