Albertsons

I have shopped at Albertsons a long time. Like most Americans I usually use my debit card. Recently mine needed to be replaced and was on the way in the mail. I was writing a check for my purchases and requested if I could make it for 20.00 over the purchase price. The clerk knew me, from prior visits and automatically stated yes.

I was then told that I had only written about 5 checks and I needed to write 10 checks in order to receive cash back. I then offered to re-write the check for the exact amount of the purchase.

The sales clerk stated for me to wait and she would call a supervisor.



This took place on March 11, 2008. The supervisor came over in a very grumpy mood. The situation was explained to her by the clerk and she looked a the check and then very angrly, stated that they could not cash this check.





My main complaint is the this check cashing policy was not written and in view for the customers etc. I beleive that you should either have a policy of taking checks, on only cashing then for a certain amount over. Who keeps track of how many checks you write somewhere? This also would eliminate one person ( that maybe had a bad day) from making the decisions on if they will cash a check or not.
