Reading reviews I don't think this place gets enough credit. Everything is fresh and made daily. As for reservations I've had them here before and usually if they feel they are going to rub out of food before you show they will close and turn people away to serve your reservation. They may have done this for the reservation of 6 so thats what they had left to serve. Besides who almost doubles a reservation without notice? Rusty saw is awesome! Go here if you can.

rusty saw smokehouse unbelievable

For Fathers Day we had a reservation for 6, we ended having 10. Well it wasn't because they didn't have enough room it was they didn't have enough food? You're kidding me, what if people came in with 12 in the next hour? How for fathers day u don't have enough.. also your hours of operation do not make any sense... Might want to update

NOT SURE WHERE THESE POOR REVI...

NOT SURE WHERE THESE POOR REVIEWS ARE COMING FROM. THEY SEEM TO ALL BE RELATED TO A COUPON. EXCEPT FOR THE GUY WHO SAID HIS STUFF WAS BURNT. I HAVE NEVER EVER HAD ANY BURNT FOOD AT THE SAWMILL. AND AS STATED BY OTHERS TAMMY AND STEVE TREAT YOU LIKE A MEMBER OF THE FAMILY. EVERYONE I HAVE TAKEN THERE HAS LOVED THE PLACE AND BECAME REPEAT CUSTOMERS.

I CANT SEE TAMMY ACTING IN THE WAYS DESCRIBED BELOW. IE UNPROFESSIONAL.

THEY ARE A SMALL BUSINESS THOUGH AND PERHAPS GOT OVERWHELMED WITH THE COUPONS.

DO YOU STOP EATING AT FAST FOOD CHAINS WHEN THEY PRINT A WRONG PRICE ON A COUPON ETC. IF YOU HAD BEEN THERE A FEW TIMES AND WAS TREATED POORLY I COULD UNDERSTAND BUT ONCE ID CHALK IT UP TO AN OFF DAY (IF THATS WHAT HAPPENED) AND TRY AGAIN.

I PERSONALLY PERFER THE CHERRY BBQ RIBS OVER THE RUBS BUT THATS MY CHOICE.

TAMMY AND STEVE HAVE BEEN NOTHING BUT WELCOMING TO ANYONE I HAVE BROUGHT THERE. THEY REMEMBER PEOPLE AFTER THE FIRST TIME THEY COME THERE.

THEY GIVE GOOD HELPINGS OF FOOD. THE FOOD IS GREAT. THEIR BAKED BEANS ARE AWESOME. I WOULD SUGGEST GIVING THEM ANOTHER TRY.

YOU CANT ALWAYS MAKE A GOOD FIRST IMPRESSION. BUT EVERY IMPRESSION I HAVE HAD OF THEM AND THEIR FOOD HAS BEEN TOP NOTCH.

I've eaten at Rusty Saw a few ...

I've eaten at Rusty Saw a few times. In reading the reviews, I'm shocked by a couple of them. I think the first thing you need to know is that this isn't a chain store with plastic smiles and fake hospitality. Tammy treats everyone who walks through the door like family. Maybe that family is occasionally dysfunctional, but whose isnt? She's like that aunt who knows all the best gossip. She'll joke with you, laugh with (and sometimes at) you, walk you through each and every item on their menu, offer seconds (sometimes at no charge) and she wants your honest opinion of what they do. She remembers you. She'll ask about your kids, their colds, your divorce, whatever it may be and she's genuinely concerened and interested.

On to the food. Like the menu says "When we're out, we're out!". They make everything from scratch and it shows. Their pulled pork is without equal. Melt-In-Your-Mouth-Tender, smokey, a little sweet from their BBQ sauce. I'm not a huge rib fan, but the people I know who are and have had The Rusty Saw's say they're amazing.

These guys are what "Mom and Pop" places are all about. Comforting, a little chaotic, fun and with lots of great food! If you haven't already, try it! If you have, go back for more!

This was our first time visiti...

This was our first time visiting The Rusty Saw Smokehouse. We also had the coupon purchased through the local radio station. The brisket was good, the garlic mashed potatoes were wonderful and the coleslaw was unique and different. The ribs were a little different, but very tender. It was disappointing that they were out of several things, but they do state on their menu, “when we are out, we are out.”

What was disturbing to us, was the fact that we had to listen to a waitress (who we later found out was one of the owners) LOUDLY complain about these coupons to several other customers. She stated this was a bad decision and a mistake to have signed up for this program and how people are taking advantage of the restaurant. She stated that “people who don’t even like our food are buying them.” This went on through our whole entire dinner. An older gentleman, who had the coupon, came in to order take out and she told him they were all out of ribs and turned him away. Not even 5 minutes later, she greeted a customer by name and informed him they had 7 racks of ribs left. We were, of course, nervous to pay and hand her our coupon. When we did hand her our coupon, she became very cold and told us what we owed and that was it. No invite to come back, a thank you or even “have a good night.” She shut the cash register door and turned her back to us .

Steve, you mentioned below that this coupon was to bring new customers in to try your food and be introduced to your business. Well, looks like you have had several people here that purchased the coupon with that intent and looks like you have lost them as returning customers. Your wife’s unprofessionalism and the way she treats the customers is damaging to your business, as are reviews like this and word of mouth. You obviously were told how many coupons would be sold. Maybe you shouldn’t have signed up for the program if the business couldn’t handle it.

The ironic thing is, we are small business owners ourselves and have owned a business for the past 27 years. We know the struggles of being self-employed. We ALWAYS will go to the little guy and we make it a priority to frequent the independent business owner. However, in this case, we will stick to Famous Dave’s for dinners out and our catering needs. It is sad day when you get treated better by a bunch of college-aged servers than by the business owner herself. She needs to remember that you exist BECAUSE of customers, not FOR customers

The food at this restaurant was very good, but I was a little taken back when I told the server I would be using gift cert. that I purchased through a local radio station at a discounted rate she replied " uh, I hate these, wish I never agreed to take them"

I'm very sorry for the comment my wife Tammy made. Some of our best customers have come from radio promotions. These promotions are ment for new people to come and try our food. In just a few cases some have bought multiple coupons "hundreds of dollars worth" to try our food. We try very hard to take care of all coupon holders even the ones taking advantage of us. Many small family owned restaurants struggle to keep open as we do every day, we are very thankfull of all our customers and hope that you will return so we can thank you also.

The Best of the Best!!!

If you are a real smoked BBQ rib lover Sawmill is the absolute BEST!! This is not the typical run of the mill ribs. I have ate smoked ribs all around the South and served by National Champions, these ribs are the Best I have had in Michigan. The Memphis style is outstanding, and although I do not put sauce on my ribs, the Special Cherry sauce is Great.

Great "down south" BBQ

This is the BEST hometown BBQ. The food is excellent, and plenty of it. The owners Tammy and Steve, are down to earth and provide great customer service. I used their catering group for a small gathering and it was awesome! It's a MUST TRY!

Tues 11-02-10 Lunch Buffet

I heard about it on WIOG and tried them out for lunch. For $7.00 it is like going home to Mom's house. The food is fresh and made from scratch. I especially liked the pulled pork B-B-Q and the ribs are cherry rubbed. I highly recommend them for your next craving of down home B-B-Q with all the fixin's but without all the crowds. Great service too!

Amazing Food and Service

A friend of mine told me about this BBQ place and said it was amazing. So I went in to try it and she wasn't lying, the food was spectacular and the service was awesome. The owner, Tammy, treated us like family we couldnt have picked a better place to eat. Get there early because everything is made from scratch so sometimes a side will run out and they are not worth missing!
