Maryland Food Bank coordinates the procurement and distribution of food donations from manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and government agencies to organizations providing free food to the residents of Maryland. The organization has been in operation since 1979 and operates a human resources department. It provides more than 13 million pounds of food annually to over 900 network partners, including food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, and low-income day care, senior and rehabilitation centers. The organization conducts networking sessions and nutrition and food safety education workshops. It maintains facilities in Baltimore and Salisbury in Maryland. The organization serves Food Resources, Southern Maryland Food Bank and Western Maryland Food Bank. Maryland Food Bank accepts donations from individual and institutions.
