You can feel comfortable with IKE and his guys

Very pleased with the personal service, Ike rode with me on the test drive. His technicians kept me informed and up to date on the repair through the whole process. We all shop and gather information from the web these days and it is our duty to our fellow consumers, neighbors and family to post honest truthful information. I can honestly say I have had nothing but favorable communication, advise and repair experiences from IKE and his team. They went above beyond to make my last transmission repair better than how it came from the factory, they researched and made extended effort to get replacement parts of better design and materials than original. I am still driving my 95 Mustang (pretty hard I might add) no leaks, no problems, no complaints. That is why I am posting this positive comment and why I'm taking in my Toyota Land Cruiser with OD transmission problems this week for IKE to fix.

(No I don't work @ IKE's)

Warmest Regards,

TLG

Great experience!

I'm a single Mom. This is the only place in Austin to take your car...Had a "transmissions problem" that turned out not be a problem but a hose fell off. Ike's didn't charge me...just made a lifetime customer out of me! I was given a $2500 estimate down the street. These guys are great!

Rare experience...

Recently my automatic transmission stopped working in all gears except 2nd. I made it home and made the usual checks. As a home mechanic I get to choose my battles and pulling the automatic transission out is not one of them! The real decision was to fix a vehicle I owned or sell it low, not working, and take on a car payment.

Method used to select repair shop. The method I used was to seek recommendations from people I trust who are unbiased and don't know each other. Two of them recommended Ike's Transmissions. Ike's was fairly close to my place. Ike's web site indicated the owner started small and built the business. I prefer this to the "franchise" approach where the owner may have bought into a business but may not have the investment in experience.

I called Ike's and my over the phone questions were answered, indicating each repair is dependent on analysis of what is broken and what else is at the end of it's life. This ends up as a saving since certain components ar every expensive but may still be good. In addition, it means there is no thrid party transmission rebuilder in the loop.

I was impressed that Ike's also identified a leaking heater hose and crank-case plugs. These are not expensive items but are difficult access unless the transmission is removed. Thsi was attention to detail that I appreciated. I had these small items taken care of at the same time.

I was able to visit Ike's while the work was in progress and my questions were answered. The place was clean and it was busy...two positive items.

Ike's requested a 2 week follow-up check that indicated a further level of dedication to the job done right.

I'm local and I'm glad they're local

Wow! What a relief. I just left Ike's Transmissions on Anderson Lane. I thought I had a transmission problem and it was a solenoid problem... I took my car to two other places and then to Ike's. He told me he would hate to give me a price over the phone and I thought it was another scam. When I got there, he took the car for a drive with me and then

Joe, his floor guy, did a diagnosis. A big bill would have been a disaster! I'm so happy I found Ike's. Go there if you are interested in honesty!

A winning team!

September 3, 2008 I had my car checked out at Ike's Transmissions on Anderson Lane in Austin, Texas. I had been having continual shifting problems that led me to believe I had a big transmission bill coming my way. I had put off getting it looked at and was very apprehensive about any shop in the transmission business. A friend of mind at IBM suggested Ike's as he had a good experience there. When I called Ike he said he would not want to guess about what was wrong and asked if I would please bring it by for a road test. His manager, Joe, got involved in the process and come to find out what I thought would be a $3500 bill was a solenoid! What a break. Anyone else would have taken advantage of me, I'm sure. Austin has a winner when it comes to an honest shop at last!

Excellent care!

On August 4th I took my car into Ike's Transmissions because a referral from a friend of mine. It's hard to trust any shop these days and being a woman I've been taken advantage of before. Understanding the workings of a car is not my expertise! I spoke with the manager there and told him about my symptoms. I had taken the car to a nationally

known shop and they quoted me $3852.00 to fix my car! Something told it might be worth getting a second opinion.

I asked around at work. I found two people, one whom I really trust, who had a good experience at Ike's. They did not want to give me a quote on the phone. I was asked to bring the car by for a free check up and it wouldn't cost anything

for a drive to feel what I had been experiencing. A diagnostic test was taken and it turned out to be a solenoid (hope I'm spelling that right...). The final ticket was under $300. What a break! That a $3552.00 difference! Thank goodness there is still someone in Austin who's honest. I hope everyone reading this will get the idea that Ike's is a great place to take your car! I'll be letting others know--

Questionable Business tactics

I have a friend who recently took his vehicle to Ike's Transmission for what he thought might be a transmission problem. Ike sure enough told him that the transmission needed repair and $1,800 later the same problem still existed. When confronted, Ike said that it was a "communication" problem and blamed it on the customer. Apparently, the problem that existed that prompted my friend to take it into Ike's in the first place was a sparkplug and wiring issue, that was solved for about $50. Ike failed to mention that by replacing several parts in the transmission, which we are still not certain even needed to be replaced at all, the original problem would still exist. Buyer beware.

It is true that a communication problem indeed exsisted in this situation. The customer had several problems that needed to be addressed. Should he have come in without any engine problem he would have been clear on the necessity of our repairs. He would have continued to hear and feel the input shaft deterioration that was repaired properly. He was advised after our repairs to get his engine tuned up. All of the solutions he received were the right ones, including ours. Mr. Miller never indicated he did not understand why we were addressing the transmission breakdown. The truck as 10 years old and definately in need of repairs. It is our solemn commitment to do only repairs that are necessary. We've been in Austin 30 years and lasted because of customer satisfaction. It is not surprising that every once in a while a customer comes along that feels he didn't get a fair assessment or doesn't understand what was repaired and why. Mr. Miller is a good man that doesn't see the big picture. We feel that we did the right repairs in this case and are glad is vehicle is working properly now. We would never charge anyone for something that they do not need. We wouldn't sleep good at night!
