Overall

Today we ate at the new "Wooden Chopstick" restaurant that went in where Ming's used to be. It's a *gorgeous* space now! No longer a buffet, though. They're now a menu only place, but the nice thing is that they have an authentic menu and and "American style" menu for those of us who aren't adventurous.

Prices are not bad, they're what you would expect plate meals to be, and there are some expensive meals, but they have expensive ingredients. Lots and lots of choices, although they might not have some of the more exotic things at any particular time. (Daughter tried to order the jellyfish, but they were out.)

I'm not sure if it was the owner or the manager who came over and helped us pick meals we would like, which was really nice.

It was all delicious. Daughter's calamari was pretty salty, she said, but it was very tender, not at all rubbery. (But it was salt-n-pepper squid, so "salty" was to be expected, I guess.) Son said his chicken was a bit too salty, and he would have preferred more spice. Husband got lamb and really enjoyed it. I got the "boring" ;-) American style sweet and sour chicken and it was really yummy. The veggies and pineapple that came with it were perfectly sauteed.

All four of us came home with go boxes, and that never happens. Usually daughter and I are the only ones who have to take food home.

They have M-F lunch specials for $7.95, which is a plate meal plus choice of egg drop soup or egg roll, which is a perfectly reasonable price for the plate you get.

The only downside was that even though someone came and checked on us once and we said we needed more water, she never came and refilled our drinks. Then we had a hard time catching her eye to get our check. But they were all really nice, and the food was really good.

It probably won't be a regular stop for Sunday lunch like Ming Garden was (too pricey for our family's budget) but it will most likely be an occasional "nice meal" stop.
