Ear Infections
Ear tubes are small devices commonly used to treat chronic ear infections in young children, but may also be used to address the same issues in full grown adults. These tubes are typically comprised of metal or plastic materials, and are placed by Dr. Dockery during a routine surgical procedure.
Family Practice
Before undergoing surgery to place ear tubes, be sure to consult with your ENT specialist to be fully informed about the procedure, how to prepare, and what to expect after surgery. It is important that the physician receives a comprehensive list of all current medications taken by the patient, and that their personal as well as family health history be thoroughly reviewed to identify any medical conditions that may affect the success of the ear tubes.

Danielle Nelson is a NCCPA board-certified Physician Assistant from Buffalo, NY. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Services/Community Mental Health at SUNY at Buffalo followed by Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies at D’Youville college. Danielle began working in ENT in 2018 and is experienced in ENT care for all ages.

MRI
If initial tests are inconclusive, Dr. Dockery will likely order a CT or MRI scan to get better insight into the internal structure of the ear or brain, which will help them pin down an exact cause of the patient’s dizzying symptoms. At this point, a course of treatment will be recommended based upon the individual and their original diagnosis.

General Surgery
Dr. Dockery founded Buckhead Ear, Nose and Throat in 1990 following his Otolaryngology residency at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Dockery received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from LeMoyne-Owen College in Memphis, Tennessee in 1978. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in 1982. Dr. Dockery completed residencies in General Surgery and General Pathology before completing his Otolaryngology residency in November of 1990.
Ear Surgery
Many ENT specialists will begin treating vertigo using the least invasive methods possible, such as prescribing different medications or recommending various physical therapy exercises. If these first attempts to solve a patient’s problems with vertigo are unsuccessful, it may be time to consider other options like antibiotic injections or inner ear surgery.
