Charlie's Chowder House

Went to chowder house for lunch and my husband and i ordered clam chowder, fish tacos, and the cheese burger. Fish tacos were ok, chowder was excellent, burger was good. However... That place was filthy. The small restaurant was not busy AT ALL. We came in before regular lunch rushes. There was only us, and one woman. The floors looked like they hadn't been swept in a couple days and looked like they hadn't been mopped in months. Our table was sticky and had crumbs on it, and our placemats were sticky with old food suck to it. The wall next to our table was splattered with what looked like A-1 or something (they dont serve steak)

This place just doesn't look like it ever gets cleaned. I watched the woman who was there leave, and the waitress cleared her plates, but didn't wipe down her table. Another gentlemen came in a while later and sat in the same spot, and she didn't even offer to wipe it down.

I think that if the state came into this restaurant, they would have some serious violations! There was no reason that waitress couldn't clean, because she did a lot of standing around waiting for customers to show up.

I believe that this restaurant could do very well if they didn't leave customers feeling like they needed to shower after they left.this place really does have great food... It just desperately needs a container of commit to hit every surface... And maybe the owner should hire staff that takes on some of this responsibility.

service is usually very poor. Unique menu but the poor service kills it.
