Overall

I bought a new Miyata Triplecross (Japanese-made) in May 1990 just as "cross-bikes" were making the biking scene. I lived in Greenville NC at that time, 330 miles away and bought the bike while I was in Asheville on business. I was out there about once per month/6 weeks. Anyway, the rear wheel had some wobble and I had several spokes to break. I was 165# so it wasn't my weight. JM Hearn agreed to totally rebuild the wheel so I shipped it to them and got it back in a reasonable time...no charge. Now, 25 1/2 years I am still riding that bike and the wheel never gave any problems. I now live in NW Georgia (Powder Springs) and ride several times per weekon the Silver Comet Trail. BTW, this was a $500+ bike in those days..roughly equal to a $2000 bike today.

Horrible Experience: Parts Swap on a Road Bike :-(

I had known Clark Hollins for several years before taking my road bike in for a "parts swap" to a new frame. His quote was a few dollars higher than other shops, but due to previous exp., I let him do it - what a mistake!! I was told the bike was done the next day - drove there, spent 3 hours of my time, and the bike was FAR from ready to ride. DID NOT SHIFT. 4 days later, and multiple explanations that never made sense - went to pick the bike. I expected a vast reduction in the cost est. ($120) and was in for quite a surprise. Instead of a reduction my time & their incompetence, Clark (the owner) tried to charge me $340!!!!!! Parts I did authorize, and extra labor "because they are imcompetent" and took 5 times as long as they were supposed to!!!! I fought for a reduced cahrge (or what should have been free), and was told if I did not pay my bill "they would call the police and keep my bike". All toll, I was extorted out of my money - paid the bill, and have since reported Hearn's to the BBB and my credit card company. The owner cares nothing about his clients, or the quality of their work, and only wants to cheat and gauge the customer.

The worst - ever, experience at a bike shop - much-less any service oriented transaction. AVOID THIS PLACE!!!
