Amazing food! This was one of our favorite spots in Asheville

Great selection of gluten free and vegetarian food items. Careful attention paid to food preparation. Everything was delicious.

This was the worst dining experience of my life. My daughter was interviewing for a job in Asheville and she and I were checking out the town for livability. We found Curate in the heart of the charming town and decided to have dinner.



It was immediately evident that our waiter was either a) working a double shift and was really tired or b) that he was doing us a huge favor by waiting on us. Trying to go with the flow, we ordered a couple of tapas plates and a pitcher of sangria.



While the food was fine the sangria tasted like it was made with very cheap, stale wine. When he stopped by our table to ask how everything tasted, I told him that we didn't care for the sangria and could we please have a glass of wine. I was questioned about my taste, then he and his manager headed into the kitchen (which we were seated next to) with a lot of eye rolling going on between them. The manager then comes out and lectures us on ordering things that we know nothing about, how we should taste test drinks before ordering and how expensive it was to make the sangria (after all, there is fruit in it). He then finished with, "I will take care of the sangria this time" as he turned and walked off. Needless to say, my daughter and I were both in total disbelief that we were being reprimanded and treated like ignorant people who had no idea what we were doing. At this point, we had had enough of Curate's hospitality so asked for the check.



I have to say that in my 55 years, I have had the opportunity to travel a bit. In all of these years, I have sent things "back to the kitchen" less than five times and have NEVER written a review on anything. Had we been treated with respect and perhaps been offered an appetiser, glass of wine...most things that intelligent managers would offer, I would have happily paid for the sangria.



We then walked across the street to Chester's Restaurant and had a delicious meal, wonderful bottle of Pinot Noir and fabulous service. Moral of the story, stay on the south side of the street for your meals!

I just had the pleasure of dining at Curate and it was fantastic. There is a ton of staff. I think the most I have ever seen. The attention to detail in the food was incredible. We will be coming back for sure. Check it out you will not be disappointed.
