Asheville Orthopaedic Associates

I took my husband to Asheville Orthopedic for a pain issue where his elbow was swollen to the point that he could not use it at all. I had to assist him with going to the bathroom, feeding him, etc. When we first arrived for the appointment, the front desk was very polite. However, upon entering the exam room , the "girl" who took my husbands weight and vitals was very cold and non-caring, almost robotic. You could tell she did not enjoy her job, whatsoever. Not a smile or hint of friendliness. Then we were told that we would be seeing the P.A., Teresa Muzick since Dr. Vaughan was not there even though the appointment was originally scheduled with him. Teresa gave us some topical ointment and prescribed Prednisone. She also prescribed another medication to relieve gout.
(Which was what my husband was diagnosed as having.) I told her the insurance would NOT pay for this medication, Cocanchina. She said if they would not pay for it, she would prescribe another medications and made note of it.
I called back Friday to let her know that the insurance would NOT pay for it and requested that she call the pharmacy with the name of the second medication. This was last Friday, and we have yet to get a return phone call or message, much less get the second medication. My husband has been in pain and suffering ALL WEEKEND. This is both unacceptable and unprofessional. All they care about is $$$$$$$$$$$$. And now I am making a phone call to the Medical Board! No one deserves to be ignored, especially when you are in excruciating pain. If you can't provide the care and compassion that everyone needs and deserves, you do NOT need to be in the medical field, at all! PERIOD !!!!!
