Dental Examination

X-rays
You can expect the insurance company to reimburse Dental Health Colorado for a portion of our fee. That portion is determined by the contract between you, your employer and the insurance company. Although we are not a party to the contractual arrangement with your insurance company, we do want to help you receive the maximum reimbursement to which you are entitled. As a convenience to you, we will process your insurance claims in order for you to receive this maximum benefit. We will also gladly provide dental x-rays and a written diagnostic report should your insurance company have any questions about the services provided. Oral Cancer Screening
Cancer Screening: We also use a device to detect oral cancer called a VELscope. The VELscope is non-invasive and uses a bright blue light to emphasize any changes in the mouth that we could not normally see. For more on early oral cancer detection, please click the link.

Teeth Cleaning
Cleanings that are covered 100% under your dental plan are routine/simple cleanings only. “Routine” means above the gum line. Patients who have tartar, plaque, or buildup under the gum line require a different, more involved cleaning procedure. There is a completely different billing code and charge for these types of cleanings and your dental plan may or may not cover it. It is not appropriate for us to perform a routine cleaning and leave the debris under the gums. Professional treatment standards require your dental hygienist or dentist to clean properly under the gum line in order to restore your dental health. We encourage you to ask your hygienist or doctor after your complete examination which type of dental cleaning will be necessary to address your dental care.
Fluoride Treatment
According to the Centers for Disease Control, a combination of tooth sealants and fluoride has the potential to nearly eliminate tooth decay in school-age children.
Dental Sealants
A tooth sealant is a thin plastic coating that is applied to the pits and grooves of the chewing surface of molar teeth to aid in the prevention of decay caused by bacterial plaque and acids. Tooth sealants can withstand the normal forces caused by chewing and will typically last through the cavity prone years.

Fillings
The dentists at Dental Health Colorado are aware of the recent studies regarding the safety of amalgam, but have chosen to abandon the use of mercury-based amalgam fillings in the best interest of our patients and to maintain a high standard of dental care.
Veneers
A veneer is a thin shell of porcelain that fits over damaged, discolored, or misshaped teeth. They create bright, white smiles with beautifully aligned, shapely teeth. They also protect the surface of damaged teeth. Porcelain is an extremely durable material with a color, translucencey and texture that is similar to tooth enamel.
Crowns
At Dental Health, we expertly place dental crown fast, and at affordable prices. A dental crown is a tooth-shaped “cap” that is placed over a misshapen tooth to restore its shape and size, strength, or to improve its appearance. Crowns can be used to salvage a tooth that has been badly decayed or broken and increase the strength of a weakened tooth.
Bridges

Dental Bonding
Will fix old fillings or bonding. Veneers can be used to cover over and conceal fillings that have become stained or discolored. Old fillings and previous attempts at cosmetic bonding that have become discolored can be easily corrected.
Restorative Dentistry
Tooth Care refers to the restorative dentistry that we do at Dental Health. Sometimes even the best prevention can’t help with the effects of aging on teeth, or a sports related tooth injury or a stray popcorn kernel at the movies.

Root Canal Treatment
Infection can be from the gums requiring periodontal treatment or it can indicate an infected tooth that would require root canal treatment. Infection requires antibiotics as soon as possible. Severe infection sometimes requires hospitalization which would involve your medical doctor or the emergency room. If you feel that your infection should be seen by a dentist, call your Dental Health office. If you feel you have a more serious dental emergency, go to your nearest emergency room.

Periodontal Surgery
If the pockets do not heal after scaling and root planing, periodontal surgery may be needed to reduce pocket depths, making teeth easier to clean. This helps gums heal and prevents future plaque build-up. You may also need surgery to repair bone damage, or you may need a tooth extracted if the damage is too severe.
Deep Cleaning
If the gum disease has progressed to more advanced stages, a special cleaning called deep cleaning will be recommended. In this procedure, tartar, plaque, and toxins are removed from above and below the gum line, and rough spots on root surfaces are made smooth. This procedure helps gum tissue to heal and pockets to shrink. Medications, special medicated mouth rinses, and an electric toothbrush may be recommended to help control infection and promote healing.

Dentures
If the condition of your teeth is preventing you from eating, smiling, and biting properly due to decay, periodontal disease, or if you no longer wish to have dentures and missing teeth, then you may be a candidate for our Optimal Mouth Makeover. A dental treatment plan will be created that will address your concerns using the latest technologies available in modern advanced dentistry that will enable you to look and feel great and allow you to eat comfortably.
Overdentures
Overdentures are a newer alternative to dentures, combining traditional denture technology with modern advancements in dental implants. An overdenture is used for patients who still have teeth remaining or who will have implants placed. The retained teeth or the implants are used to help suport the overdenture. Although it is a more expensive option than a conventional complete denture, it offers a stronger biting surface,better fit and increased retention.

Dental Implants
A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that replaces the root of the natural tooth. After the implant is placed, artificial teeth are attached enabling normal function and natural tooth appearance.

Orthodontics

Invisalign Orthodontics
We use the innovative Invisalign System which is a clearly different way to straighten teeth. With this system, a series of clear, removable aligners are used to move teeth. When you wear Invisalign, most people cannot even tell that you are having your teeth straightened as the translucent aligners are nearly invisible. This system is not for everyone as it’s only only available to adults with certain bite problems.
Braces
When we close our mouth, our teeth come in contact with each other, establishing what we call our bite or our dental occlusion. There is not much science to explain how most of us got our bite. As a child, our permanent teeth erupt out of the gums until they contact the adjacent and opposing teeth, stopping the eruption process. Studies have indicated that there is a neutral space between the muscles of the tongue and the lips that contributes to the position of the teeth. Some of us have our teeth straightened with braces that may make the teeth appear in line but that changes the natural bite.

Teeth Whitening
At Dental Health, we use the latest techniques for teeth whitening. The results you will see from our professional teeth whitening systems will be far superior to over-the-counter teeth whitening kits. We offer in-office whitening, which is the quickest way to whiten teeth. Or you can do your whitening at home with our professional home whitening gel and custom fit trays.
