A crown is a cap or shell that covers a tooth to help protect and strengthen it. Teeth can lose their strength from decay or chipping. Fillings are great when the decay or fracture is small, but fillings do not increase the strength of the tooth. When a defect in the tooth is large, then a crown is preferred because it lasts much longer than a filling.
Bridges

Root Canal Treatment
Root canals are needed to save a tooth that has a damaged or dead nerve. Root canals relieve pain, stop abscess infections, and save teeth. Root canals are not like the movies; it is a painless process. In terms of patient experience, once you are numb the process is very similar to filling a cavity except that the appointment is a little longer. The patient experience with a filling and a root canal is actually very similar, with the only difference being the length of the appointment. At Bay Hills Family Dentistry, we ensure that you are numb and comfortable.

Dentures
Regular dentures are removable trays of false teeth that rest against the gums. With implant-supported dentures, the denture is supported by and attached to implants. An implant-supported denture can be used when a person has enough bone in the jaw to support implants, even though they don’t have any teeth. The denture has special attachments that snap onto the implants, providing a more stable fixture. Studies have shown that older patients with snap-on dentures have a longer lasting and higher quality life than patients without implant supported dentures.

Dental implants are a great way to replace a missing tooth. Getting a dental implant is a painless appointment, and they last longer than other options for replacing teeth. They are by far the most comfortable tooth replacement and feel most like your natural teeth. They are easy to keep clean, and they do not require modifications to adjacent teeth like bridges do. Oral Surgery
Dr. Gens is passionate about continuing education and taking additional dental courses to better serve the Arnold, Annapolis and Severna Park area. At University of Maryland, he was selected for the Oral Surgery Clerkship and received an award for Implantology. Since graduating, Dr. Gens has spent hundreds of hours locally and traveling across the country to attend national seminars in oral surgery, dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, sedation, and more. He has volunteered with dental mission trips to bring free dental care to underserved communities.

Tooth extractions are not what they used to be! During your appointment we ensure that you are as numb and comfortable as possible.

Orthodontics
Wisdom teeth, or the third set of molars in the back of the mouth, usually arrive in young adulthood. When they come in, they may not develop normally. They can come in at the wrong angle, become trapped, and cause pain. Other times, the mouth is not big enough to accommodate the new set of teeth, and their growth would cause the other teeth to shift around, which is not ideal if you’ve already had orthodontics.
Invisalign Orthodontics
Invisible braces, or clear aligners, are a great option for patients who want straight teeth without the time and hassle of metal braces. Clear aligners – such as Invisalign and ClearCorrect – are a system of removable trays that quickly straighten teeth in just a few months.
Braces
If you are interested in invisible braces, you’ll begin with a consultation with the dentist to identify your goals and take impressions of your teeth. This will reveal if you are a candidate for invisible braces. If you are, the dentist will work with an invisible braces manufacturer to provide a system of clear aligners that are designed specifically for your mouth. Depending on the amount of movement needed to straighten your teeth, you will wear the trays 22 hours a day for a specified length of time – usually between three and twelve months.
