Dental Care
Veterinary dentistry has come a long way in the past 20 years. It has seen tremendous growth as veterinarians become more highly trained in dental care, prevention and treatment.
Vaccination
Dr. Grissom received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A & M. She practices relief veterinary services around Tarrant County and allows Dr. Harris the opportunity to take time off each month. Dr. Grissom has one cat that she and her husband rescued. Dr. Grissom firmly believes in preventative medicine. Annual exams, vaccinations, and tests can detect health issues before they become health crises. In her spare time, Dr. Grissom enjoys bicycling, reading, baking and traveling with her husband.
Behavioral Counseling
2) Bromethalin: causes fluid (edema) to accumulate in the brain and spinal cord. Clinical signs may develop within hours or days after ingestion. Symptoms include weakness, loss of balance, behavior changes, seizures, coma or death. There is no specific treatment for this toxicity, but your veterinarian will recommend hospitalization, supportive intensive care, sedatives, anti-seizure medication and muscle relaxants.
Nutritional Counseling
Stage 5: End Stage Periodontitis – characterized by bone loss exceeding 75%. Single-rooted teeth exhibit mobility, but multi-rooted teeth may not yet be loose. Pets may show mouth pain, pawing at the mouth, weight loss and even abscesses that break-out onto the gum line, face or chin.
Comprehensive Examination
Annual examinations and professional teeth cleaning by your veterinarian will prolong the life of your pet’s teeth as well as the longevity of your pet.

Illness Treatment

Parasites Treatment and Control
Dogs. The dog is a natural host for heartworms, which means that heartworms that live inside the dog mature into adults, mate and produce offspring. If untreated, their numbers can increase, and dogs have been known to harbour several hundred worms in their bodies. Heartworm disease causes lasting damage to the heart, lungs and arteries, and can affect the dog’s health and quality of life long after the parasites are gone. For this reason, prevention is by far the best option, and treatment—when needed—should be administered as early in the course of the disease as possible.
Vomiting Treatment
Upper Respiratory Illness Treatment
GI diseases, including hiatal hernia, gas reflux, and esophagitis are common in these dog breeds. Surgical management of respiratory disease may reduce GI signs.

Infection Treatment

Feline Retro Virus Treatment
FIV and FeLV are serious. Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) and feline leukemia virus (FeLV) have lifelong implications for your cat and are spread through contact with unknown cats that transmit the disease. Unfortunately, cats that are vaccinated for FeLV can still contract the disease. Do your cat a favor and keep them safe from these chronic illnesses by keeping them inside.

Chronic Condition Treatment

Thyroid Disease Treatment
A diet deficient in the amino acid tyrosine can cause black cats’ hair color to change from black to reddish. Tyrosine is needed to make melanin, the dark pigment in cat fur, and if a cat doesn’t get enough tyrosine in his diet, his ebony fur may fade. Other nutritional issues such as copper deficiency and zinc excess can cause black fur to lighten, too. Be sure to consult your veterinarian before giving your cat any supplements, though, because a change in fur color could also indicate kidney, liver, or thyroid disease.
Heart Disease Treatment
Dr. Bonnie ( as I call her ) treated my fur baby for over 2 years while he suffered with heart failure. When Dr. Bonnie and the staff found out he passed I received so much compassion it really left a smile a in my heart while going through the hardest loss of my life. I love the Dr and supporting staff here.
Kidney Disease Treatment
Dr. Harris has three pets at home. Sticky is a 17-year-old cat that has kidney disease and is on a prescription diet to prolong her life. Her two dogs were both “rescue” pups that needed homes. Cheyenne is 14 years old and loves to be outside to chase rabbits. Iris is a 7-year-old mini-pit that has storm anxiety and is afraid of loud noises. All of Dr. Harris’ pets are microchipped, spayed, neutered, vaccinated and on monthly heartworm and flea/tick medication. Dr. Harris is active in her church choir and enjoys traveling and spending time with her family, both near and far.
Periodontal Disease Treatment
Periodontal disease is the most common disease seen in small animal veterinary practice. Left untreated, periodontal disease can cause oral pain, tooth loss, infections and systemic disease caused by bacteria that enters the bloodstream from the infected teeth. Bacteria invade and damage organs such as the heart, kidneys, liver and lungs. Most cases of advanced periodontal disease in dogs and cats can be PREVENTED.

Veterinary Surgery
A 6 year old critically ill unspayed female dog with pyometra (puss-filled uterus) that died from sepsis before emergency surgery could be performed. Preventable!
Spaying and Neutering
Spay is slang for ovariohysterectomy of a female dog or cat. Neuter is slang for orchectomy or castration of a male dog or cat. Spaying or neutering your dog or cat is RESPONSIBLE pet ownership. It not only lengthens your pet’s life, it improves quality of life and eliminates a multitude of health risks. Not to mention the pet overpopulation problem, which is a CRISIS right now!

Microchipping
Some people like cats too much. When people come into your neighborhood to visit friends, they might just see your beautiful cat as a great souvenir and take him or her home with them. While microchips can prove ownership, you first have to know who took your cat—and that can be tough to find out. Better to keep your valued family member inside and safe.
