Pepper Mill Apartments

Apartments are very good for UTA students. I lived there a year, and never encountered problems. Maintenence orders were resolved quickly, office was usually open, staff was friendly, and pests were minimal. There are people living here that have been here since it was opened. All in all, this is a great community and I hope to move back there soon.

The apartments at Peppermill seem very appealing at first, especially to UTA students because of its location, but there are things that will only come up after you have signed the lease. The rent may seem reasonable comparatively, but it has gone up every year - $50 per month increase in just the past 3 years! You will also be responsible for utilities, which is not unreasonable generally for the small square footage, but the A/C units in the windows have a difficult time keeping the loft apartments cool upstairs in the summer even with multiple fans. I had two months where I paid over $200 per month on electricity on what I was told was a properly working A/C unit. The management is very difficult to deal with, and despite the posted office hours, you will find no one available more often than not. I will have to say the maintenance guys are very prompt and friendly and are about the only redeeming quality. You will get to know them because the policy of this apartment is to only repair and swap out appliances instead of replacing them. My dishwasher motor has gone out twice, once flooding my kitchen. My freezer motor has gone out causing me to throw away food. My A/C unit has been switched out and was previously leaking all over my floor constantly. There have been other repairs as well. I will also say that I am currently pest free, but I have had a gnat and an ant infestation (coming through the walls) since I lived here. They treated my building for termites, and there was a notice put on the doors about a roach infestation in one of the buildings here. Oh and, both myself and my neighbor had bikes chained on our porch in front of our windows to the privacy fence in front of each apartment. On separate occasions someone came through and stole our bikes by cutting through our chains in the middle of the night. If you are looking for a place to live it is up to you, but this is a little inside perspective about Peppermill. As for myself and a couple of other long-term tenants who originally signed our leases under different management - we're out of here!
