The Art of Emotion's artistic inspiration is contemporary photography that combines both photojournalistic and illustrative styles—whether in wedding, portrait, or other photography. Our approach is spontaneous, and organic; our focus is on artfully capturing emotion and telling relationship stories photographically. It is the photographer who bears the responsibility for recording your memories and documenting your day. Wedding photos are irreplaceable; being a wedding photographer is a huge responsibility and a great honor. A year after the wedding, when the dress is put away and the food and flowers are long gone, the most powerful mementos you’ll have from your wedding day are your photographs. And those photographs can bring back all the precious details and even let you relive the emotions of the day. Becky, Erika, and Joshua Burgin are the photographers behind The Art of Emotion. The three have been pooling their award-winning talents and working as a team since 2000. Together, they’ve photographed more than 300 weddings in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. Becky Burgin is The Art of Emotion’s lead photographer and creative visionary. She’s also the team’s actionista, able to respond quickly to changing timelines and solve logistical problems as they arise. Her passion is reflecting the romance between two people in the unexpected moment. Joshua Burgin is the team’s photojournalistic photographer and videographer, known to literally sprint to position himself in just the right place to capture award-winning moments. And Erika Burgin is the team’s “empath,” able to discern the emotional needs of people around her—an invaluable photographic skill for visually telling the “story” of day. As a family of artists, Becky, Erika, and Joshua love what they do, love working together and enjoy combining their strengths and talents to bring joy in the form of shared memories to others.
