Criminal Defense
Susan Orlansky arrived in Alaska in 1980. She worked for the Alaska Court System for one year, then spent the next 11 years with the Alaska Public Defender Agency, where she concentrated on criminal appeals.
Misdemeanors
After Kevin’s clerkship he joined the Public Defender Agency as a trial attorney. At the Public Defender Agency, Kevin handled thousands of cases ranging from misdemeanor driving under the influence to complex felonies in Anchorage and with assignments in Unalaska, Sand Point and Saint Paul.

When “Institutional Controls” are required by a government, we ensure they are as extensive as needed but not more so. Litigation experience has given our attorneys, particularly Robert Reges and Tom Amodio, capable skills in the creation, interpretation or vacation of easements and other servitudes. Brian Stibitz, formerly an associate and now a member at Reeves Amodio, has the courtroom lawyer’s ability to think on his feet and reduce complex environmental matters to simple statements comprehensible to the layman. He is an effective advocate and adviser on a wide variety of environmental and land use issues.

Personal Injury
For the last 15 years, Colleen has worked in the natural resources section of the Alaska Department of Law, including several years as the section chief. During that time, she advised the Department of Natural Resources on a wide range of issues, including land sales and leasing, trust land, easements, R.S. 2477, water rights, mining, oil and gas issues, contracts, and the development of associated statutes and regulations. Prior to that, Colleen worked in private practice, where her work included insurance coverage, real estate, commercial, personal injury and corporate litigation. Throughout her career she has had a busy appellate practice as well.

Estate Planning
From drafting a will to closing an estate, Reeves Amodio can handle all kinds of estate planning and probate matters. Tom Amodio advises clients about estate planning issues and has prepared wills for many clients. Tom Amodio and Brian Stibitz have assisted in getting clients appointed as personal representatives (i.e., executors) of estates and advising them on the probate process, all the way through to filing documents with the court needed to close out an estate.
Wills
Tom has handled numerous cases of public interest litigation, involving elections, voter initiatives, referendum, recalls, and other election-related disputes. Tom also advises clients on estate planning matters, has drafted numerous wills and trusts, and has participated in probating estates. Tom is an active member of the Alaska Bar Association and has been admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the District Court for the District of Alaska.
