Pediatric Care

Primary Care
We expect that youth will transition themselves to an adult primary care provider sometime between the ages of 18 and 22. NAP provides annual physicals for young adults up to and through the age of 22. Most adult primary care physicians require their first appointment to be an annual physical. Therefore, after age 22 patients can continue to see their pediatrician at NAP for medication recheck and acute sick visits, but will have time to complete the transition process in time for the 23 year annual physical to be performed by the new adult PCP.
Family Practice
Primary care providers collaborate with our IBCLC to provide breastfeeding management and support to parenting families in order to promote best practice protocols for infant nutrition and family health.
Emergency Care
All types of appointments, including regular check-ups, sick visits, and follow-up appointments, are scheduled during weekdays. However, we offer evening, weekend, and holiday hours at our pediatric office for children who are acutely ill or require emergency care.
Immunizations
We work hard to ensure that your child receives prompt medical care in a comfortable, child-friendly office setting. To help expedite the first appointment, we ask that you please have any prior medical records, including immunization records, sent to our office at least 48 hours in advance. Please arrive a few minutes early to complete paperwork regarding your family medical history, your child’s medical history and insurance information.

Autism

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Finally, for our patients who have ADHD treated with medication, there continues to be significant shortages of many of these medications nationwide. We are getting a lot of calls from families requesting a prescription be sent to a different pharmacy because the first pharmacy did not have it in stock. We are happy to help with this but ask that you please first call to make sure the alternative pharmacy does have your medication in stock, and then call or message our office with the new pharmacy information. This will lead to your child getting their medication as soon as possible as delays can happen every time you request a repeat prescription to be sent.
Depression
Mental Health
Information related to testing for sexually transmitted infections and/or mental health treatment will NEVER be released to your family, even if you sign this form. That is information only you can share with your family directly.
Behavioral Health
· We have seen a drastic increase in behavioral health struggles and these patients require frequent appointments for their treatment and monitoring.
Anxiety

Radiology
While not specifically associated with NAP, a Cooley Dickinson laboratory is available in our Northampton office and just down the hall from our Amherst office. The CDH phlebotomists are great with our patients. The Northampton office draw station is open Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 12:30pm and 1:30pm to 3:20pm. Our Northampton office is located on the same street as Cooley Dickinson Hospital where there are more hospital services like Radiology & Imaging and lab stations.

Physical Therapists

Sports Medicine
We can see your child for a variety of issues including sports injuries, lacerations, wart removal and pre-operative visits. Our providers also offer conferences to discuss more complex issues like behavior and/or mental health. We have prenatal consults for expectant parents and meet and greets for older patients transferring into the practice.
