        The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization that has been in business since 1920. It has office locations in more than 50 United States, as well as Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Hong Kong. The organization has over 900 state and local leagues. The League of Women Voters serves the needs of nearly 20 million women. It encourages informed and active participation in government-related matters and works to increase understanding of public policy-related issues through education and advocacy. The organization handles issues related to protection of minority voters' rights and civil liberty and homeland security. The League of Women Voters operates the League of Women Voters Education Fund and the League of Women Voters of the United States.
