Other diagnostic tests performed at the Alton MultiSpecialists building are EKGs and pulmonary function tests. If a diagnostic test is required which is not available at our building, it is scheduled elsewhere. Minor surgery is performed in our outpatient surgery room.

In order to make a correct diagnosis, an orthopedic surgeon will normally conduct a physical exam followed by diagnostic testing such as X-rays, MRI’s, CT scans, and blood work. In July 1983, Dr. Hill began a search for other exceptional board-certified physicians to meet Alton’s need for more doctors. The group chose the name Alton MultiSpecialists (AMS). As the group attracted more and more patients, it outgrew its location at the St. Clare’s Office Building on Fifth Street. Therefore, Dr. Hill and his physicians drew up plans for a new building at the ideal location of College Avenue and Homer Adams Parkway. An avid gardener, Dr. Hill planned the landscape at the new site and even planted many of the trees and shrubs himself. AMS has since relocated to the new building in September 1994. Modern radiology facilities and lab draw services are housed in the lower level. A spacious north area, the Community Room, was designated for giving educational talks to the community. Dr. Hill saw the need for more Primary Care doctors, so additional internists and pediatricians were recruited to work in the new building.
