Cabinet Cottage

We previously remodeled our kitchen in another home in 2007, however, they are no longer in business. Thus, began the search for a new kitchen remodeling firm. We met with four other design firms in addition to Cabinet Cottage.

On the initial consultation, Jay Jacks and Dana Campbell of, Cabinet Cottage, did a great job visioning my kitchen’s potential. They created a design for my kitchen that was outstanding. Their unique vision for our kitchen was the reason we chose them for our 2017 kitchen remodel.

We gutted the whole kitchen and started with an entire new foot print. We were very pleased that Jay and Dana envisioned the kitchen’s potential and created the exact design we wanted within the space. Unfortunately, when it came to the finishing touches and execution, problems began.

Jay was often not available and sent an assistant to do much of the work. Unsupervised, we had to request time and time again that Jay come back to complete the work that wasn’t done correctly the first time. For the most part, Jay did redo the work after the assistant had made a first pass at it and completed it to our satisfaction. But in the home stretch, things fell apart. We were due a credit for our sink and cabinet hardware, however due to Jay’s original design plan’s shortcomings, he absorbed all of the credit (over $600) through adjustments (resetting cabinets) etc. due to poor planning.

As well, several trim items were left unfinished. Electrically outlets were placed in the wrong locations on several occasions. Jay provided measurements for electrical outlets only to have his installer put the cabinets over the outlets, and never communicated with us or stopped to ask to have them relocated. We did not find out the upper cabinets were installed over the top of three electrically outlets until we started to install the cabinet lighting. Very disappointed to be left like this. And our numerous attempts to reach out to Jay Jacks at Cabinet Cottage went unanswered.
