A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain that is placed over a tooth surface, either to improve the esthetics of a tooth, or to protect a damaged tooth surface. Veneers are indirectly fabricated by a dental technician in a dental laboratory, and later bonded to the tooth, typically using a resin cement. Veneers are an important tool for the cosmetic dentist.
Crowns
A crown is sometimes referred to as a “cap”. It totally covers the tooth and protects it. It is like putting armor over the tooth giving it strength. A crown cannot be put over a tooth without first removing a small amount of tooth structure to make space for the crown. Otherwise the crown would be bulky and when the patient bit down, he or she would hit that tooth first and cause trauma. Initially, the tooth is prepared by removing a little tooth structure from the top and sides with a dental drill. Then an impression is taken that is used to make a stone model exactly duplicating the “prepared” tooth.

Also keep an eye on other symptoms that might develop, including white patches on your tongue, which could indicate oral thrush, an infection caused by fungus that grows in the mouth, and soreness and ulcers in the mouth, which could be a sign of dry mouth. Dr. Dickey obtained his dental education from Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, TX. At the center of the tooth is a hollow space that contains the nerve supply and blood supply to that tooth, called the pulp. Root canal is the term referring to the complete removal of the pulp within a tooth. It also eliminates any bacteria or infection and then seals the tooth to prevent future bacterial invasion.
