        J. B. Lafargue Special Education Center, located in Alexandria, La., is affiliated with the Rapides Parish School System. The center provides free public education to individuals up to 21 years old. It offers a wide variety of programs and services to people who are identified through a multidisciplinary evaluation as being in need of special educational services. J. B. Lafargue Special Education Center offers programs that focus on promoting academic independence, human relationships, economic efficiency and civic responsibility. The center serves people suffering from autism, emotional disorders, and hearing and vision impairment. It also offers services to individuals who are gifted, infants and toddlers with disabilities and people suffering from mental disorders, multiple disabilities, and orthopedic and other health impairments.
