Overall

At the end of September 2013, I needed to find a new eye doctor in order to order new contacts, as is required by the state of New York yearly. Unfortunately, my regular eye doctor was no longer covered by my insurance, Davis vision. Elisa Perreault was recommended by Davis vision, and also close to where I lived so I gave them a call. When I called there, the individual who answered the phone was helpful and courteous. Upon arriving at my appointment this all changed. I waited a 1/2 hour for my appointment, when I was the only one in the office. Now we all know that vision coverage is a bunch of fine print that isn't clearly defined. So here is where this visit got interesting. The eye doctor told me that my prescription was too strong, and gave me 2 other contract prescriptions to try. She gave me 5.50, 5.75 and 6.0 (which I already had and have had for about 5 years). I took that with a grain of salt and took the samples. In the time that I had been waiting for the busy eye doctor I had picked out a pair of Michael Kors frames. In the time while I was waiting for my eyes to dilate, the assistant, if you can even call her that, told me that those frames would give me a 'fish bowl affect'. What professional says this? I didn’t ask her for fashion advice (if you saw her you would know why), I asked her to price them. She continued to pick out frames that she thought that would look better on my face, although I am 27 and have been wearing glasses since I have been 5. Frustrated with the process, I asked her if I could get the prescription for the glasses and make a decision later. This is when I started to get attitude. She told me that it was a 'package deal with my insurance' and that I 'had to make a decision by the end of the week'. Then came the discussion about the contacts. I was told that I could either get a discount on the contacts or glasses through my insurance; this is standard procedure with insurance companies. I told them I would decide on that also since I liked to order through 1-800 contacts. Finished with the appointment and absolutely frustrated with the fact that I had 3 different prescriptions to pick and didn’t even get a pair of glasses I just wanted to get to work at that point. I cashed out: the total was 75. I thought I was going to pass out at the counter. What the 'assistant' did not tell me is that there was something like a 25 dollar copay and i would get the rest back IF I ordered contracts through them. I had to actually call the insurance company (davis vision) and have them call the office to confirm this. When I called the office on the way home the woman was very rude to me and said 'I guarantee that is what your insurance says'. Even today when I called the woman who answered was rude and hung up on me. So I would not recommend this place to anyone who believes in customer service or friendliness. And to the women, who work on troy-Schenectady rd., get off of your fat butts and do your job. And to the owner, if you want a business, fire those two.

Worst Place Ever

Hmmmmm......Where do I begin. This place is ABSOLUTELY ridiculous. Never in my whole glasses/contact wearing life have I had to wait so long for TRIAL lenses you heard it heard right a trial pair of contact lenses. Today is September 5, 2008, I went in for an exam the last week of JULY, here I sit STILL waiting for a trial pair of lenses. They've been giving me the run around, told me they were in I took time off of work just to have them come to the realization they were the WRONG lenses. After a minor tantrum I made the Optometrist write me out a prescription even though I hadn't tried any lenses yet. Wwnt on to 1-800 Contacts and had them overnighted to me. I would recommend this place to my worst enemy. My suggestion is get your act together people!!!!

Thanks,

Still Waiting in Albany
