While at CWRU, Amanda completed her OBGYN clinical clerkship within the Cleveland Clinic Women’s Health Institute. There she gained experience working with obstetrics and gynecologic patients, performing outpatient office procedures, and inpatient obstetrical care. Additionally at CWRU, Amanda served on the executive board of the Student Run Health Clinic as the Outreach Chair and in this role coordinated community outreach projects relating to Sexual and Reproductive Health Education.

Ultrasound

MRI
A standard MRI may be used as a screening test if you have a high risk of breast cancer. This includes testing positive for the BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene and/or having a strong family history of breast cancer.
X-Rays
Computed Tomography
You may also get some tests. They include lab tests. One of these is a blood test called CA-125. Too much CA-125 (cancer antigen 125) in your blood can be a sign of ovarian cancer. Other tests may also include imaging tests, such as an ultrasound or a CT scan.
Chemotherapy
Stage of the cancer and other things, such as your overall health. The main treatment is surgery to remove the cancer. Other treatment options may include chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, and endocrine therapy. Sometimes a clinical trial may be a good choice.

Dr. O'Shea is a member of the teaching faculty at both Akron City Hospital and Akron General Medical Center. She also staffs the Adolescent Clinic at Akron Children's Hospital. Dr. O'Shea teaches a formal laparoscopy / hysteroscopy course to resident physicians at Akron General Medical Center. Hysterectomy
There are a few situations in which regular Pap smears will no longer be recommended for certain women. These cases include women who have undergone a hysterectomy that was performed for a noncancerous condition, as well as women who are over the age of 65.
