There is so much more work that goes on behind the scenes of an animal shelter that many people either choose or don’t take the time to understand. I have found the staff at The Albrecht Center to be dedicated and loyal and, more than anything, committed to helping the animals. A big part of that plan is through education - but it’s sometimes embarrassing how little people want to take the time to listen and learn before they make a commitment to take care of a pet for the rest of its life. If you’ve had a bad experience, Albrecht wants to know about it so they can improve. But also, if you’ve had a good experience be an exceptional person and share that information. I have found the staff to be appreciative of and responsive to constructive criticism - unrestrained online bashing doesn’t help anyone. No organization is perfect but I’ve yet to find one staffed with more dedicated, tender-hearted, educated people.

Adopted a very sick cat out to my 18 year old daughter. Said it had been seen by their vet, was declared healthy-just had a minor respiratory illness and sent it home with (the wrong) antibiotics. Once home, clear cat was very ill. Took to vet. Cat is emaciated under his long-hair (weighs 6 pounds), has the respiratory illness plus ringworm and severe and painful dental problems that will require surgery and is the reason he can’t eat or breathe well. Vet says all this not surprising coming from this facility. Will spend $1000, if not more, restoring this animal to health. Adopters and anyone considering donating please beware. Hard to believe an organization supposedly devoted to animal care would send out an animal so sick and in pain.

When they say "the great work our local shelter is doing" they kind of give themselves away. The statement may be true however, I intend to find out.

We went to look for a dog. The people were friendly and helpful. The facility is great, always clean, and the animals are well cared for.

We took our dogs to have heartworm checks and vaccinations at the new facility. The building is beautiful, the service was fast, the people were super nice, AND we had everything done plus purchased a years worth of heartworm meds for everyone for less than half of what it costs at our regular vet! They have lots of beautiful cats and dogs for adoption and merchandise for purchase with their logo. The website is a great place to get mo info. Check them out and support the great work our local shelter is doing.
