Macular Degeneration
Dr. Jorge is board certified to treat a multitude of eye diseases including glaucoma, diabetes, macular degeneration, and dry eye. His fourth- year rotations took him to Sacramento, Salt Lake City, and Bakersfield where he gained experience in cataract co-management, geriatric care, diabetes, and macular degeneration. He worked with other optometrists and ophthalmologists, both in private practice and Veterans Hospital settings. Dr. Jorge’s final rotation enabled him to work closely with a dedicated senior optometrist who provided him with many insights into geriatric care and the private practice of Optometry.
Laser Eye Surgery
Monovision/ Modified Monovision is a method where both eyes see but most of the work for reading is done by one eye and the other does most of the work for distance activities. This is a good alternative at times to multifocal lenses and is also used in LASIK surgery for some individuals.

The behaviors that are attributable to both autism and vision problems can include lack of eye contact, staring at spinning objects or light, fleeting peripheral glances, side viewing, and difficulty attending visually.
